State of Flow
I love to paint. As I take the paintbrush and swipe it across my canvas repeatedly, I often find myself in a state of flow. I have always loved to paint and whenever I am painting, I get lost in the art. I then find myself looking down at my phone to see suddenly that 2 hours have passed and I haven’t even realized. According to verywellmind.com, “flow is a state of mind in which a person becomes fully immersed in an activity.” And I’ve always found that I reach a state of flow when I’m passionate about something.

Fascinate Test Results
Because I’ve experienced this intense state of flow many times in the past, when taking the Fascinate Test by Sally Hogshead, I wasn’t surprised to find out that my primary advantage is passion. Taking the test intrigued me. I sometimes find it hard to answer questions in personality tests because I have different feelings when I’m in different situations, although my results did seem relatively accurate. My archetype is an orchestrator with advantages of passion and alertness.

I have always been passionate and I think passion drives how I do everything in my life. When I like something, it’s clear and I try to bring passion to whatever project I’m working on. I believe that when you’re passionate about something, it makes more sense and it comes easier to you, especially in terms of completing an assignment. That brings me to my second advantage, which is alert.

I initially was surprised to hear the term alert to describe myself, but when further reading into the description, it made sense. It does sound like me to take swift, deliberate action and expect high quality results. I am rather proactive and organized. And in a group project, for example, I usually find myself first to speak and quickly allocating specific tasks to every member to get the job done.

How will this knowledge help me?
Understanding that my passion in both my personal and professional life is an advantage will help me to optimize using the quality to my benefit. I think that for me personally, it’s important to like and feel passionate about what I’m doing in my career. That’s not to say I always have to like the exact project I’m working on, because I know being agile is of utmost importance. However, I do think it’s necessary for me to find a career and position in which I can allow my creativity to flow. I lastly think that Sally’s tip for me as a passion advantage to connect instantly with a warm smile and open body language is something that could definitely take me far. :)
